The true story of a small, but crucial mission in WW2. Growing increasingly desperate to bring the war to an end, the British forces seek a way to hit at the heart of Germany’s Industrial strength. Soon, their attention is drawn to the strategically vital Rhur Dam. A seemingly impossible target until engineer and inventor Barnes Wallis (Michael Redgrave) discovers the means for a bouncing bomb that will skip over the water before sinking and exploding.
Both a study of the mission in question and the men in power; and the collaboration between engineer and pilot. The final attack features groundbreaking special effect. With a rousing score and a nuanced performance from Richard Todd as Wing Commander Guy Gibson, The Dam Busters is a fine example of the British stiff upper-lip in the face of all odds.
